The Sidewalks of Silicon Valley?

BoxBot

Ok, we got the Streets of Silicon Valley covered (I even bought a domain with that name and have a separate blog there.) Then there’s the robot security guards in the parking lots. Well right around the corner from my house out on the sidewalks I’ve also met my robotic overlords.

There’s an outfit called BoxBot testing a delivery robot. They don’t look too far along as far as autonomous-ness, there seems to be a human with a joy stick walking behind the orange small refrigerator on its back looking contraption.

None-the-less it’s fun to see a little of this autonomousness so close to home. Maybe I’ll place an order and see how it works?

Google’s Self Driving Two-Seater

Google has been busy on their self driving cars. I was lucky enough to get a few stock photos in a Silicon Valley parking lot where this steeringwheel-less two seater was being tested. This is without-a-doubt the cutest of Google’s self driving cars. It allegedly has a maximum speed of 25mph, and I thought it wasn’t street legal in California- but that wouldn’t be this car appeared to violate. Of course if you’re a multi-billion dollar company, you don’t expect to abide by the same rules the rest of us do. 😉
